Our story
Nestled in the charming landscapes of the Punjab province in Pakistan, Daska stands as a city steeped in history and culture. Serving as the capital of Daska Tehsil, one of the four tehsils of the Sialkot District, the city has become the canvas for Rahat Cheema's creative journey, turning her passion for furniture design into a thriving enterprise known as Vintage Works.
Once a full-time homemaker, Rahat's story is a testament to the power of creativity and determination. At the age of 25, she transitioned from adorning her own home as a young wife and mother to becoming the creative force behind Classic Interiors (now known as Vintage Works).
Vintage Works thrives on Rahat's meticulous attention to detail and an innate love for creativity and beauty. Her journey, which began in the 1990s, left an indelible mark on the cultural and design landscape of Pakistan. Specializing in mid-century modern designs, Rahat's pieces are not just furniture; they are heirloom treasures, reflecting her design philosophy of breathing life into living spaces.
In 1992, Rahat undertook an exciting project which entailed the crafting of a beautiful wooden swing that transformed her friend's mundane interior into a playful yet sophisticated space. This endeavour marked the collaboration between Rahat and the renowned artisan of Daska, Mushtaq Mistari, resulting in a handcrafted, portable swing that still graces her friend’s living room - a timeless symbol of environmentally friendly free-form design.
This success resonated widely, catching the attention of government officials seeking a furniture transformation for a golf hut in Gujranwala in 1993. After months of dedicated craftsmanship, Rahat and her team delivered a golf hut that not only won hearts but also marked the official inception of Rahat’s enterprise. This triumph propelled Rahat into a realm of diverse projects and clientele, laying the foundation for what stands as Vintage Works today.
In 2002, international recognition beckoned as Rahat and her team sent their inaugural shipment to Wanstead, East London, for the esteemed Lord Adeel Mirza. Captivated by Rahat’s furniture showcased at a friend's house, Lord Adeel was inspired to commission a complete interior overhaul of his residence. A prominent figure in the United Kingdom, Lord Adeel still proudly possesses the furniture sent to him. This marked the beginning of Vintage Works' international expansion, with subsequent supplies reaching various countries.
As Daska gracefully embraces modernity while cherishing its roots, Rahat's daughter, Iman, symbolizes the fusion of both the past and the present. Working alongside her mother, Iman is steering Vintage Works into a new era by incorporating technology, insight and mindful strategy to allow the brand to evolve and expand in the years to come.
Having been formally part of the company for the past few years, Iman recognizes the global potential of the brand and is dedicated to showcasing it on the international stage.

Under Rahat’s watchful eye, Vintage Works continues to craft intricate, ornate, and delicately carved pieces, each emerging as a distinctive statement - a precious jewel within the realm of furniture design. Blending elements of modern French, Italian, and Baroque design, each piece, is a balance of iconic French-Baroque aesthetics with a contemporary twist.
But beyond the brand, Rahat's commitment to social work and philanthropy resonates in her home, her workshop and her community. For the founder, giving back and making a difference for the less fortunate is not merely a choice; it is the very essence of her life's purpose.
Creating meaningful opportunities for the underprivileged and actively participating in charitable initiatives is the foremost priority. In the pursuit of positive impact, financial support for orphans holds a special place in Vintage Works' heart. A percentage of its profits goes towards supporting orphaned children in the local area. Recognizing the challenges many of these children face, Vintage Works has adopted numerous orphans, dedicating itself to providing them with a world-class education and a quality life until they reach adulthood.
But the commitment doesn't stop there. In a bid to break barriers to education for underprivileged children, Vintage Works has undertaken the responsibility of funding a fully equipped school in Daska. This institution not only offers traditional education to students from surrounding villages and Daska itself but also imparts industry-related skills that will pave the way for their success in the future.
At the end of the day, isn't this the very essence of our life's purpose? To plant saplings with the hopeful anticipation that they will one day flourish into mighty trees, graciously offering shade and shelter to the generations that will follow.
